How it all started
It was in 2011 when Cody and Lini Chytka found what they thought would be the perfect place for them at 1882 East King Road. That first night, Cody was insistent on a couple of things…..that they would buy a box of beer, a mailbox, and just sleep on the floor. As Lini was putting the numbers on, one of the 8’s ended up quite crooked! Crazy as it seems, it was this moment in which the Crooked 8 was born. The dream would soon follow of turning the C8 into the premier rodeo and concert venue in Idaho.
With Cody being born in Belle Fourche, South Dakota and Lini from Battle Mountain, Nevada, their social circle in Kuna had just begun. “We’ve always been social people, and enjoy great music,” says Lini. Their spare time has been spent working on their place, attending rodeos with their daughter Payton, and – of course – attending concerts and music festivals.
Last year, Cody had the idea to have their own music festival. So with the help of a lot of friends, the Crooked 8 HoeDown was born. “Considering I can’t sing, and I have a passion for music, my role is to help those that I look up to,” says Cody. This 2-day, 10-band festival of fun was the catalyst of what the Crooked 8 is today. From rodeos to concerts to weddings, there’s always something going on at the Crooked 8!
